Ethics for the Massage Professional

6 CE Hours (Category B for State of Iowa)
9:00am-3:30pm

In this six hour class class we will explore the many ethical situations that one can encounter as a massage therapist.  Roles and Boundaries are a focus of the workshop and will be discussed in detail.     
This class is very interactive and dependant on the class attendees input and interactions. 

The workshop participants will learn:

1.  To define ETHICS and how they relate to Professional Bodywork.

2.  Parameters in which to practice.

• Scope of Practice
• Confidentiality
• Beneficence
• Abandonment
• Friendship
• Therapeutic Relationship (Professional Relationship)
• Maintaining Integrity in Practice
• Transference/Countertransference
• Informed consent and Autonomy
• Dual Role Relationships
• Gender issues with massage
• Sexual Boundaries

4.  How to identify potential situations and what actions to take to stay within an ETHICAL practice.
